Hiking Club

Welcome to Desert Shadows RV Resort Hiking Club. At DSRV we have a very active community of hikers currently led by Daryl Koch each Wednesday starting Mid-November through Mid-March.  All skill levels from Novice to Advanced are welcomed.

Each week we have a different and unique hike. Our Snowbird hiking season usually starts with the shorter/easier hikes early in the season and progress to longer and the more difficult hikes later in the season.

Hikes meet, greet, and then depart from the DSRV San Jacinto Flag Pole at 7:45am every Wednesday in season. Often hikers carpool to share gas expense and limit the number vehicles parking at trailheads.

The hikes promise incredible views/vistas, often wildlife (Big Horn Sheep), Rock formations, Desert vegetation, water crossings occasionally, some slot canyons, some open meadows (Whitewater Preserve), and various elevation changes.

So, if you want to really see the Coachella Valley from a different vantage point, want to experience nature and exercise at the same time, and want to meet some awesome people please join us at 7:45am, on Wednesdays, at the San Jacinto Flag Pole.

Helpful information for our hikes:

Bring Plenty of water…

Good Footwear (hiking shoes or tennis shoes must have good soles on them)

Snacks of some type…

SUN PROTECTION- (lotion, clothing, hats)

Clothing – Hikes often start with cooler morning temps, then as things warm layering is helpful.

Hiking Poles- are optional though can be very helpful and often recommended.

Please Note: Everyone has to sign a DSRV release form at the start of each hiking season.
